He's To Young To Die
So last night I took some time to do a little diagnosis of what was wrong with my bike and this is what I came up with:
*occurred when I was hit by that car
- *Front Wheel Not True: The front wheel was smacked pretty hard by the car. I was able to true it as much as possible but the wheel still had a little wobble in it.
- Back Wheel Not True: Hell if I know how this happened. The wheel is incredibly twisted. Four or five of the spoke are really loose. The wheel is in such bad shape that it doesn't spin.
- Tight Chain Link: Two of my chain links are tight. This means that about twice every rotation the chain slips and my pedal falls suddenly. It is the most annoying thing in the world.
- *Handle Bars Come Loose: When I'm riding the handle bars come loose and start to move.
- *Stem is Crooked
- Back Tire is Worn: Do to the fact that my back tire wasn't true it was causing it to rub against the frame, now there is a noticeable wear in the tire meaning it could go at any moment.
Prognosis: Currently unrideable. Do to the fact that the back tire is so bent out the wheel can't even turn now preventing me from riding the bike.
Course of Action: Take of the rear tire, and walk down to the bike kitchen tomorrow and true the tire. Walk back with the trued tire and throw it back on my bike. Ride back to the bike kitchen to fix my stem and handlebars and to degrease my chain to see if I can work out the tight links. Right now it comes down to cutting my loses. I need a bike to live in San Francisco but I don't need a perfectly working bike to get around. So if I can get it rideable again then all will be well.
